Written by James Cleveland Moore in 1914. Moore was a Missionary Baptist minister, and a singing teacher in Spaulding County, Georgia. It appears to have been based on an earlier song, "That Beautiful Land" written in 1889 by Mrs. F. A. F. White.
I'm playing solo autoharp on this one. In the instrumental after the first verse, you can see how playing melody on the autoharp requires more chord changes than the rhythm accompaniment. If you are playing any other instrument, you can ignore the extra chords. The sheet music (below) includes the autoharp melody chords.
We'd like to include a variety of examples of how each song here can be performed, so please send us a video of your interpretation of this great old gospel number and we'll share it here.
