Carter Family Gospel
"Anchored in Love Divine"

Often attributed to the Carter family because of their recordings, this one (original title, "Anchored in Love") was actually written in 1911 by James Rowe (lyrics) and James Vaughn (music).

This number is often performed by bluegrass gospel groups and is a favorite of autoharp players. Maybelle Carter, of the original Carter Family is probably the one individual who most contributed first to the preservation of, and then to the resurgence in popularity of, the autoharp. John Carter Cash entitled his biography of his mother "Anchored In Love: An Intimate Portrait Of June Carter Cash."

It works better in a duet or group setting than as a solo, so the two parts in the chorus can be sung.
