"Rescue the Perishing"
by Fanny Crosby

Fanny Crosby (1820-1915), composed the lyrics to "Rescue the Perishing" and some eight thousand other hymns during her lifetime. Blind from the age of six weeks, she never wrote down her hymn lyrics, but dictated them. Many of her hymns remain popular today, including such Sunday morning standards as "All the Way My Savior Leads Me," "Blessed Assurance," "I Am Thine, O Lord," "Near the Cross," and "To God Be the Glory."

The music was written by William Howard Doane (1832-1915) a successful businessman who wrote hymn tunes on the side (over 2000 in his lifetime).
