Originally recorded by the Carter Family in 1928, "Keep on the Sunny Side" has become a country gospel staple.
The lyrics were written in 1899 by Ada Blenkhom. Blenkhom credited the title phrase to her nephew who was confined to a wheelchair and always requested that he be pushed "on the sunny side" of the street.
