Autoharp Blues
Piano & Harmonica Gospel
"Daniel in the Lion's Den"

Does the autoharp work as a blues instrument? You be the judge. It has its limitations, since you can't bend notes, but you can get a bit of a blues feel. I use a "hammering on" technique where the strings are strummed, before the chord bar is depressed, followed by quickly pushing down the chord bar. My brother, Martin, on the piano and harmonica, makes up for any limitations that may be inherent in playing blues on the autoharp. (If you're not interested in the autoharp instruction, skip to 1:55 where the song begins!)

Sometimes called "Lord, Won't You Come By Here," this bluesy gospel number was originally recorded in 1927 by the Norfolk Jubilee Quartette.
